No gay sex on the Sunday outing in Nong KhaiReport from a charming posting called gay Nong KhaiBy gay Suzy Size who knows everything about gay Nong KhaiStaying at the farm of the boy friend's parents upcountry, there was-as they always say-nothing much to do. Gay life in Nong Khai is very low anyhow. Or they had, as usual, no idea what to do besides cooking, eating, talking and drinking. That was sanuk. Where there is sanuk life is beautiful. Cooking, eating, talking and drinking will not get you into any problem; it is the foremost pastime in the Northeast of gay and not gay Thailand because it will not bring any troubles but is fun in the purest sense. Could there possibly be more to life than that? Is that not true for gay and not so gay Nong Khai? But suddenly-it had never happened before-the group had an idea. Let us go to the famous Thantong Waterfall on the Mekong River next Sunday. That is a gay place near Nong Khai in the classical sense of the word. Well... and here we are. It really is a nice waterfall. So thought scores of families who'd had the same idea and had gathered on their ubiquitous bamboo mats near the water. Most of them were well equipped with ice boxes, grilled chicken, fish in that salt crust, somtam and the famous sticky rice. And beer (only Leo and Chang) besides all kinds of cheap whiskies. The waterfall was quickly visited and admired and then the logical thing to do was sit down eat, talk and drink. Life, again, was gay just outside of Nong Khai. When there was a sudden shortage of chicken or beer or ice a niece together with her companion was sent to one of the nearby shops to buy new supplies for the two gay uncles from Nong Khai. Lazy Sunday afternoon, preparing for the gay night life of Nong Khai. There were two tarts (gay effeminates) in the group coming from Nong Khai entertaining the rest of us with shrill sentences, jokes and anecdotes. Not ladyboys but effeminate gay guys who seem to be accepted in this rural Nong Khai society, well known from soap operas. They were making passes at young village boys who were flushing and smiling but fleeing the scene. In Europe the parents of those 16 year old boys would have intervened and punched the tarts, those obvious gay guys from Nong Khai, on their noses. Not so here. Everybody laughed and had a good time, enjoying the lazy Sunday afternoon at the well known, scenic waterfall and the entertainment provided by the joking tarts. Even your good old gay Suzy Size laughed a few times. Then a group of soldiers, enjoying a few free days away from the battlefields in the deep South made their appearance and were targeted by the gay girls or gay guys from Nong Khai. It did not take much persuasion to make two of the rather boyish fighters sit down and drink, eat and smoke cigarettes-free of charge, paid by gay Suzy Size but given to them by the gay guys from Nong Khai. A third and fourth one stopped by only occasionally, obviously not so sure what to make of the soliciting tarts or gay guys from Nong Khai. All the soldiers were at least slightly drunk. Everybody was at least slightly drunk. This was after all meant to be a fun Sunday outing for everybody. The gay guys from Nong Khai just had a ball. The two bold warriors that had sat down were now quite hesitant to leave whereas their colleagues who were less bold had left already. The two tarts or gay guys from Nong Khai had stopped making passes at them for lack of clear and positive response-so the soldiers started to flirt aggressively with a group of nearby girls. They borrowed a fancy mobile phone from one of the gay guys from gay or not so gay Nong Khai to take-from far-pictures of the girls, who got the message and soon became part of the group, also eating and drinking with us paid again by gay Suzy Size but given to them by the gay guys deriving from gay Nong Khai. One of the obviously straight (and not at all gay) soldiers even got a phone number out of one of the girls. With the pen he borrowed gay Suzy Size he wrote that precious number on his hand. Then he borrowed a piece of paper from gay Suzy Size and was able to save the number on a dry base. But to my surprise he handed me the piece of paper. He obviously acted as my (or rather her) faithful messenger. That was a bit of a surprise since I had actually fancied that particular soldier and would have liked to help him out a bit in a gay Nong Khai way. She approached nearer and started talking to me, making it clear she had her eye on the old, but probably well off, farang. We talk about gay Suzy Size stuck in a queer Nong Khai situation. She was a village girl and only 17. I could have had her any time until I spoiled her Sunday afternoon by telling her that Suzy Size definitely was gay. The other soldier who obviously liked her more than a little could not score with her. He had no money and we even had to give him a ride home. Nothing, as is so often the case, happened but he had the nerve to ask for a soft loan of two hundred Baht, a sum I would gladly have parted with and more for an hour or two of his one on one company.
